Guitars with EMG pickups

Thanks for reading our comprehensive review of the 4 best guitars with EMG pickups. We’ve carried out extensive research and checks on several guitars with EMG pickups and collated them in this easy to read summary.

Many people are now on the hunt for a guitar with EMG pickup and the main reasons being that EMG pickups are “active pickups” (A.P.) that includes an additional circuit that plays as pre-amplifier of the signal gotten by it. Basically, with these kind of pickups,  the guitar output a more “warmer” signal to the amplifier and you get more “distortion” or more “gain” without additional stomp boxes.

So without further ado here is our number 4 on the list of best guitars with EMG pickups. The Schecter Damien Platinum 6.

  • Mahogany body and 3-Piece Maple Neck
  • Lightning quick Rosewood fingerboard
  • EMG 81/Sustainiac Pick-up Set
  • Floyd Rose Special Bridge System
  • Grover Tuners

This fantastic Schecter guitar is only at number 4 in the list due to the high price over the others in our top 4 list of best guitars with EMG pickups. As you can see above though, it has some amazing features on top of being an absolutely stunning guitar. This guitar is loved by men, women and even children and beginners, purely because of what it has to offer.

The Schecter brand is known for it’s high end, unique guitars and this one definitely follows that pattern. Here is a short video of the Damien Platinum in action.

Adam says:

“I bought the ec 1000 a couple of weeks ago and I gotta say, I’m crazy about this guitar. The black finish and gold hardware on it makes for a beautiful look and the abalone on the inlays and around the body and fret board looks awesome. The emg pick ups are great for long sustains, punchy palm muting, and shrieking pinch harmonics. I don’t know why people complain you can only play metal with these pick-ups though. Sure, they’re really good for that, but they also have beautiful clean tones and even manage some decent classic rock or bluesy tones as well. If I really want to be a stiffler about my more vintage tones then I will use my strat, but this guitar usually sounds fine for those as well it’s just not a blues machine or anything. I also love the playability of this guitar. Shredding up and down the neck feels so natural and easy, I just want to do it all day when I pick this up. Hands down this is probably one of the best modernized, metallised LP kind of copies you can get for such a cheap price. I highly recommend it!!”

DR GEORGE says:

“Beautiful guitar, nice fast neck, awesome pick ups, sounds great, easy to play, weighs around 8 lbs.”

And last but not least, coming in at first is the Epiphone “1984” EXPLORER EX Electric Guitar

And here’s why –

  • Sleek Update of a Classic Design
  • High Output AMG Pickups
  • Black Hardware
  • Single Volume
  • Single Tone Control
  • EMG 81/85 Pickup Combo

Why? You may ask, well his absolutely beauty in a classy alpine white color is incredible and scores a huge 4 out of 5 stars on Amazon.com, which to be honest, I think, is a massive underrating. It does come in at over $1000 but it is well well well, worth the price tag not only for the looks but the sounds, EMG pickups and obviously you are paying for the huge Epiphone brand.
